For 2023-2024 academic year and going forward meal swipes will not be available in the HUB.
The to-go boxes can be purchased for a one-time payment of $10.00 at the Cashier’s station in the Jernigan dining hall.  The boxes allow people who cannot or don’t want to eat in the dining hall to have a takeout option.  A clean container is required for each visit; we will swap the container for a clean one when you bring it to the Cashier’s station.
For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Apple Dining Room will be open for Breakfast 7:00 am -10:00 am; Lunch 11:00 am - 2:00 pm; and Dinner 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm.  (between 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm the dining room will be open with salad bar, premade sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and made to order grill)
This is based on historical volume/demand data.  On a typical weekday, we serve about 1,000 people in the cafeteria, and on the weekend, that number drops to less than 200.  On the weekends, we open at 10:00 am for breakfast, and at 11:00 am we add lunch items from the grill, the plant-based station, simple servings, and pizza and pasta.
It truly depends on the specific dietary need.  For the most common allergies, we have Simple Servings, which accommodates the nine major allergens: fish, shellfish, soy, dairy, peanut, egg, sesame, tree nuts, and wheat/gluten.  We also have a plant station that accommodates vegetarian and vegan diets.  For anything other than those we would need to be notified to work out accommodations.
Each meal plan provides the student with a defined amount of Dining Dollars.
Dining Dollars can be used to pay for guests at all locations on campus (Apple Dining Hall, Starbucks, 1901, and the HUB).  Students can also use their Dining Dollars for personal purchases at these same retail venues and the two C-Store locations.
Depending on the meal plan:
An All Access Meal Plan can be swiped 21 times per week, limited to every 30 minutes.
A Limited Access Meal Plan can be swiped 12 times per week, limited to every 30 minutes.
The Commuter Meal Plans are limited to the number of meals included in the meal plan that was purchased (25, 45 or 75) for the semester, limited to every 30-minutes.

Yes, we are working closely with the Trevecca Urban Farm to incorporate ingredients grown on campus.  We are also beginning a composting food waste campaign so the farm can use the waste to grow more food.  We currently have no Styrofoam or straws in the dining hall; we use recycled napkins and recycle all of our fryer oil and grease for use in biodiesel and other applications.
Here is the Trevecca Student Dining Allergy Policy:

Allergy Information: Students with food allergies or intolerances are encouraged to inform the Trevecca Student Dining staff of their condition so that appropriate measures can be taken to ensure their safety and well-being.

Menu Labeling: All menu items will be labeled with ingredients and potential allergens to help students with allergies make informed choices about their food. If a student needs clarification about an item's ingredients or allergens, they should ask a Trevecca Student Dining staff member for assistance.

Food Preparation: The Trevecca Student Dining staff will take precautions to avoid cross-contamination of allergens. This may include separate cooking utensils, preparation areas, and storage spaces for foods that contain common allergens.  Apple Dining Hall is not a nut-free facility and does use peanuts and tree nuts on common equipment.  While efforts are made to eliminate cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that items are nut-free except those served at the Simple Servings Station.

Allergen-Free Options: The Trevecca Student Dining staff will provide allergen-free options for students with allergies at Simple Servings. These options will be separated from other foods to avoid cross-contamination.

Emergency Response: In the event of an allergic reaction, Trevecca Student Dining staff will follow emergency protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected student. Staff members will be trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and equipped with the necessary tools and medications to respond appropriately.

Student Responsibility: Students with allergies are responsible for informing the Trevecca Student Dining staff of their condition and making appropriate food choices. Students should carry any necessary medication, such as an EpiPen, and inform their roommates, friends, and professors about their allergies in an emergency.

Communication: Trevecca Student Dining staff will communicate any changes to the menu or ingredients to students with allergies as soon as possible. Additionally, students with allergies should communicate any changes in their condition or medication to the Trevecca Student Dining staff.

By implementing this allergy policy, Trevecca Student Dining will ensure that students with food allergies or intolerances can enjoy their meals safely and without worry.
